Dandruff is a normal scalp condition, often triggered by sensitivity to unsuitable hair care products. If certain preventive measures are not adopted at the initial stage, it may also be the underlying cause of facial pimples, rashes, damaged hair follicles, hair loss etc. Some of the common reasons for dandruff are- Oily scalp Excessive stress Dry skin type Lack of scalp cleansing Product buildup Yeast growth
Preparation: Gently brush or detangle your hair while dry to loosen flakes and product buildup.
Wet Thoroughly: Use lukewarm water to completely drench your hair and scalp. Avoid hot water,
which can further dry out and irritate the scalp.
Target the Scalp: Apply a coin-sized amount of shampoo directly to your scalp, as that is where the
treatment is needed. Avoid applying large amounts to the hair lengths to prevent drying them out.
Massage: Use your fingertips (never your nails) to massage the shampoo into your scalp for 1–2
minutes. This improves circulation and ensures the active ingredients reach the skin.
Let it Sit (Crucial): Leave the lather on your scalp for 3 to 5 minutes. This allows medicated
ingredients like ketoconazole or zinc pyrithione enough contact time to work.
Rinse Thoroughly: Rinse with lukewarm or cool water until all residue is gone. Leftover product can
cause further irritation.
Condition Ends Only: If your hair feels dry, apply conditioner only to the mid-lengths and ends.
Avoid the scalp to keep the treatment area clean.
